Adelynrood is situated on fourteen beautiful acres near the Massachusetts - New Hampshire border, just south of Newburyport and very near Parker River Wildlife Refuge. Tall pine trees are interspersed with gardens and trails and benches so one can walk or sit and reflect amid the beauty of nature.
The bedrooms offer quiet and simple meditation and journaling space. The covered porches stretch the length of the house and one can sit and rock, watching and listening to the birds and the breezes make their beautiful music. Guests can curl up in one of the several
libraries and sample a broad spectrum of spiritual works – as well as a variety of poetry collections, an extensive mystery fiction section, wild life guides and many other treasures.
In addition to the Main Chapel where all may participate in the Holy Routine, there is a small chapel within the house on the second floor – the Oratory – where one can go for private prayer and meditation.
Adelynrood is handicapped accessible.
“Our new site is of varied character. The land rises gradually to quite a height from the road and then slopes back gently to the beautiful pine woods which will be in future our chief joy. The woods slope down toward the west to a little dell where there is a beautiful spring of water of which we shall make practical use. Sweet fern, juniper, and bayberry cover part of our land sloping up to several acres of cultivated meadow land. A great rock at the highest point, from which there are lovely views on all sides, this is where our house will be…”
