Join us for a weekend exploring hope as gift of the Holy Spirit. In a time of political turmoil and foreboding about the planet’s future, our calling in Christ as bearers of hope comes into sharper focus. We need insights that go far beyond ideas of mere “optimism.” The gospel summons us to live under the authority of God’s future as pioneers of new ways of being human made possible by God’s irrepressible yearning. Our time together will include several presentations, time for personal reflection and prayer in silence, and in-depth conversation. It will culminate in worship in which we will receive the laying on of hands to stir up the Spirit’s gift that is within us for our ministry as arousers of hope.
The Rev. Martin Smith is well known throughout the Episcopal Church and beyond as a leader of retreats and conferences, preacher, and author of widely read books exploring contemporary spirituality, including The Word is Very Near You, A Season for the Spirit, Love Set Free and Compass and Stars. A priest with over forty years of experience in the field of spiritual formation, the base for his itinerant ministry is Washington DC.
