Walking in the Spirit: Step by Step

Sacred space at Adelynrood gives everyone an opportunity to embrace God’s love, express gratitude, find healing, discover a new calling, or solve a perplexing problem. Tolkien said that “not all who wander are lost.” Since the labyrinth does not require us to figure out the path, we can listen to our whole being – body, mind, and spirit. Join us for a Quiet Day where we will be using labyrinths, poetry, Bible readings, journaling, and music to facilitate this contemplative practice.

Elise Schlaikjer, SCHC, is a retired co-director of MorningStar Retreat Center in LeRoy, Michigan, and a trained facilitator by Veriditas and its founder, Lauren Artress. Her passion for this form of prayer led her to create two different styles of labyrinths. She created a labyrinth in her backyard which she walks on a regular basis. Elise has led labyrinth walks in churches and retreat centers as well as her home.

Veronica Chapman, SCHC, is a trained labyrinth facilitator. She has mentored Education for Ministry and interned in a hospital chaplaincy program. Celtic spirituality continues to influence her daily life after growing up in her native Wales. A pilgrim of the Holy Land, Chartres, and Iona, Veronica enjoys memoir writing and attends writing workshops in Western Massachusetts, where she lives.
