The Spirituality and Practice of the Jesus Movement

August 4-6 (Friday dinner-Sunday lunch)

The Spirituality and Practice of the Jesus Movement

The Episcopal Church is all stirred up for something that’s at once ancient and also boundary-breaking: The Jesus Movement. But what does it take to follow Jesus and welcome neighbors to forge loving, life-giving, and liberating relationships with God and each other? This retreat will begin by sharing our own stories of following Jesus and the spiritual practices that draw us closer to the heart of Christ and the world. We will then explore a uniquely Anglican approach to the practices of evangelism (growing relationships with God) and reconciliation (growing relationships with “the other”). Get set to be energized, grounded and ready for the Movement.

The Rev. Canon Stephanie Spellers serves as the Presiding Bishop’s Canon for Evangelism and Reconciliation, spearheading church-wide efforts to share the good news of God’s radical love with new communities in new ways. A former Chaplain to the House of Bishops and founder of the ground-breaking emergent ministry, The Crossing, at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Boston, she is the author of Radical Welcome and The Episcopal Way, volume 1, in the new Church’s Teachings for a Changing World series (with Eric Law).

Program fee $130; room and board $230. Total cost $360
