“Love is The Most Powerful Force for Change in the World"
August 3–5 (Friday dinner–Sunday lunch)
“Love is The Most Powerful Force for Change in the World”
According to author Becca Stevens, her life’s work as a priest and as founder of Thistle Farms (a community of women healing from prostitution, trafficking, and addiction) has been to learn how Love Heals (published 2017). She says “I have learned the lines that divide us are so small and what we hold in common is so much more powerful. Community holds the key to healing. In today’s world we are all busy with the tasks of our everyday lives and leave little room for community engagement and transformation. But this is where we need to focus for healing, for ourselves, and our world. Let us get busy surrendering to our faith; let us get busy loving one another, and serving each other, and forgiving each other, and learning how to walk in faith.” At this retreat you will hear stories of hope from survivors and learn how you can incorporate daily practices of healing into your own life.
The Rev. Becca Stevens is an author, speaker, priest, social entrepreneur, founder and president of Thistle Farms. She has been featured in the New York Times, on ABC World News and NPR, was recently named a 2016 CNN Hero and a White House “Champion of Change.” She was featured in the PBS documentary, “A Path Appears,” and named Humanitarian of the Year by the Small Business Council of America. Becca's latest book Love Heals is about creating healing spaces. Becca lives in Nashville with her husband, Grammy-winning songwriter Marcus Hummon, and their three sons.
